Dr. Kaplan Dau

Owner / Veterinarian

Brynie Kaplan Dau is a small animal and exotics veterinarian. She grew up in Pacific Grove and is happy to be back in her hometown, serving the community that she loves. Dr. Dau holds a Master’s degree from Moss Landing Marine Labs and California State University, Monterey Bay in marine science (invertebrate zoology and chemical oceanography) and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine (zoological medicine track). She has spent extensive time working with sea turtles in Greece and the Cayman Islands, marine fishes and invertebrates, and our own California wild seals and sea lions as well. But she has never strayed from her childhood love of cats and dogs. She now works with exotic pets in addition to cats and dogs. Her main interests include feline medicine, soft tissue surgery, dermatology, behavior, dentistry, and ultrasound. In her spare time, she is busy with her twelve- year-old twins Myles and Poppy and her own menagerie – four cats named Elijah, Skylar, Saga, and Forrest, a gorgeous Merle pug named Pearl, and two leopard geckos called Coral and Cloud.

Dr. Kaplan Dau strives to be part of a team with you to do what’s best for your beloved pet. She will always offer the highest quality of care while working with you to manage your pet’s health as well as possible. She takes pride in having excellent communication with you to find the best possible treatment plan for you and your pet. Dr. Kaplan Dau also collaborates regularly with specialists in cardiology, surgery, internal medicine, and ophthalmology to ensure the best care for your pet.

I’d like to express my gratitude to all the amazing clients who have welcomed me to Pacific Grove Animal Hospital! The amount of kindness you all have shown has been endearing. Thank you so much for your support!

Our Staff

Kathy

Hospital Manager

About Kathy

Kathy was born and raised on the Monterey Peninsula. She has been working in the veterinary field for 12 years. She is passionate about all animals, but especially has a love of large breed dogs. She has a very handsome 10 year-old Rescue Pitty, Jaxton AKA Jax a 90-pound “lap” dog (or so he thinks so), 14 year old Rescue Chi-Weenie, Roxy, that is in control of all of them all. Also an,  Ash…5 year old “hearder” ranch dog, that doesn’t live on a ranch, but she thinks she does. “Ash” thinks she’s definitely a special dog… she is. ❤️ Kathy loves camping, boating, and traveling (as long as it’s in the sun.) She is devoted to caring for companion animals. Her ultimate goal is to have a facility dedicated to catering to bully breeds. “Bully” breeds are unfortunately so discriminated against, and they are the most loving breeds, as with all beings, it’s all in how one is taught.

Edwin

Edwin

About Edwin
Edwin grew up in the Salinas Valley, and started in the Veterinary industry over 10 years ago, as a kennel attendant. It was then, he realized he had a passion for working with animals. Zoe - RVT

Zoe

Registered Veterinary Technician

About Zoe
Zoe grew up on the east coast, and found her love for working with animals very early on in life. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University, where she also maintained a position on the women’s field hockey team. She then went on to secure a specialized technology degree in Veterinary Technology from the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. After passing the VTNE and obtaining her RVT license, Zoe is more passionate than ever about prioritizing patient care and making a profound impact on the community of Pacific Grove.

She shares her home with a beagle named Barney, a Bernese mountain dog called Murphy, and a sweet little orange cat named Otis. In her free time, you will most likely find her hiking in Big Sur, spending time on the shore with her pups, or combing through one of the many wonderful antique shops Pacific Grove has to offer!

Lily

Lily

Kennel Assistant

About Lily
I have been living in Monterey for 20+ years and have devoted my time to taking care of the elderly, children, and pets. I have now transitioned to focus solely on pets (furry and non-furry). Joining this veterinarian team has allowed me to fulfill that desire. Outside of this hospital, I love to travel and look forward to eventually visiting my four-legged nieces and nephew (Coco, Jacques, and Antoinette) in Italy. Miau!

Janelle

Assistant

About Janelle

Janelle grew up on the Monterey Peninsula and has been in the veterinary field for 7 years. She has graduated veterinary technician school at Central Coast College and is planning on obtaining her RVT license. Janelle has a great love for animals but is particularly passionate about horses and marine life. When Janelle was just in high school, the late Dr. Williams used to let her observe his surgical procedures. It was then that Janelle realized her love for veterinary medicine.
